Lead scoring without rules: a five-minute setup.

Hand-tuned points tables go stale fast. Here is how to set up adaptive AI lead scoring in five minutes — and the trap most teams fall into.

Hand-tuned lead scoring rules — "+10 points for a demo request, +5 for a download" — are a maintenance burden that goes stale within months. The replacement is adaptive AI scoring that retrains on your closed-won deals.

Setup

In AutomatticCRM:

  1. Open Sales → Lead scoring.
  2. Toggle "AI scoring" on.
  3. Pick the closed-won deal window (last 90 days is a good default).
  4. Save.

The scoring model now updates daily based on which leads actually closed.

The trap

Teams over-engineer lead scoring before they have closed-won data. If you are pre-product-market-fit, do not score leads — talk to all of them. AI scoring earns its keep starting at ~50 closed-won deals.

Reading the score

A score is just an ordering. Sort your inbound queue by score and you have a prioritized work list. Do not show scores to reps as the main UI — show next actions.
